Lip Balm: Our lips are tiny sensitive ones that are used every day. Nevertheless, they are often neglected in the daily beauty routine. Stop it! We introduce you to our personal favorites for delicate and well-groomed lips in our lip balm test.
The skin of the lips is very delicate and thin. But did you know that it can be up to seven times lighter than the rest of the skin? And is it so tender that the blood vessels shimmer through and look reddish? In addition, the skin of the lips has almost no sweat and sebum glands. The skin area cannot form a protective film of moisture and fat. And so, it is practically helplessly exposed to external influences such as cold, dry air, and solar radiation.
What does that mean for us? We have to help them and take care of them! For example, with a lip balm. With the beauty product, we add moisture to our lips from the outside and thus ensure that they do not dry out and become brittle.
By The Way: It is typical of a balm with a soft and creamy consistency. That is why lip balms are often not only available as a care stick but also in tubes or jars.
Lip Balm Put To The Test: Our Favorites For Delicate Lips!
The selection of lip balms is wide. We have tried three care products, and here we share our experiences with you.
Sensitive Lip Balm
This Is What The Lip Balm:
The lip balm from lavera is supposed to protect your lips from drying out. The product contains organic jojoba oil and organic almond oil. It befits a natural cosmetic product. The balm is also free from mineral oils.
This Is The Result:
The lip balm is easy to apply and leaves a thin film on the lips. You can feel that there is now a layer of care sitting here. However, it is quite a pleasant feeling because the balm is not too rich or greasy. The lips are then softer. By the way: The lip care is odorless, which I find very pleasant. For around 2 euros, you can do everything right with this lip balm, and you can also put it in your handbag ‘to go’ without hesitation.
Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
This Is What The Lip Balm:
The lip balm from Burt’s Bees is supposed to make your lips velvety soft. How is he going to do it? With coconut and sunflower oil, vitamins, and essential fatty acids. Beeswax keeps your lips from drying out, and peppermint oil makes them feel refreshing.
This Is The Result:
It gets tingling with the lip balm from Burt’s Bees Vitamin E & Peppermint because the essential oils are refreshing! The lip balm is easy to apply and instantly refreshes, and makes dry lips supple. The lip balm is an absolute must-have for all mint fans. A top product for supple, well-groomed lips with an extra kick of freshness!
“The Petit Remedy”
This Is What The Lip Balm:
The care balm should not only care for your lips intensively but also other dry skin areas such as your hands. It should also protect your face from the cold and wind and soothe light skin irritations. The product contains ingredients such as immortelle (curry herb), almonds, lavender, and shea butter and does not contain any mineral oils, artificial colors, or fragrances.
This Is The Result:
Since lip balm does not come in the form of a stick but in a small jar, it has to be applied with the finger. But that doesn’t bother me personally. Since the balm is very rich, it takes a while to be absorbed. Then the lips feel well cared for and supple. By the way, the product hardly smells. I would rather say it is odorless. I find it super practical: You can also use the balm for other dry skin areas on the face. And: I can get by with one can for a long time, so I think the price is okay.
Which Lip Balm Should I Use In Spring And Summer?
Our lips contain very few color pigments and are therefore hardly protected from UV radiation. Intensive sun exposure is pure stress for our lips. Sun protection should therefore have top priority in summer. Ensure that your lip balm has a high sun protection factor (SPF 15-30) so that you don’t get sunburn. It is also important that your care product donates a lot of moisture so that your lips do not dry out.
Which Lip Balm Should I Use In Fall And Winter?
Cold, wind and heating air are the minor enemies of our lips in winter. If we don’t fight them enough, they make our lips dry, chapped, and cracked. What did we need? Lip balms are as fatty and low in the water as possible. They stick to the skin longer and act as a protective shield against wind and cold. For example, care products with plant-based and natural ingredients such as jojoba oil, shea butter, rosehip oil, or beeswax are ideal. The ‘Lip Gold’ balm from Dr. Hauschka contains, for example, shea butter, beeswax, almond oil, and wound clover.
If you go on a winter holiday, you should also ensure that the lip care also has UV protection. The white snow reflects the sun’s rays, and if you are not careful, you can quickly get sunburned on your lips.
